Did you know that it is really easy to setup a WordPress website with blog page? If you want to have such a WordPress site, you just need to create two WordPress pages.

WordPress Website With Blog Page

Creating Homepage And Blog Page

The first page you create is your Homepage, but don't call this page Home! If you do that, you will get into problem with some WordPress themes. Home is a special page that might have a completely different layout.

Most Magazine style WordPress theme will use that special home layout page.

So just give it a good title that will be the main page and keyword for you site. For this site that is “How To Make Your Own WordPress Website“.

Once you have created that page, its time to setup your WordPress blog page…

Create a new page and give that the title Blog or News, just what you want it to have as a title or purpose.

Now you just publish that page, don't write any content on the page, you just leave it completely blank!

Note: In some themes you have special Blog page template, you can see that if you check the Template drop-down menu. A Blog template is not mandatory for the rest of the options below!

Configure Your WordPress Home and Blog Page Setting

The next step is to assign the pages to the correct options. You will do that in Settings -> Reading configuration screen.

Click the option to set A static page (select below)

Select the page you want to show as your Homepage from the drop-down page list and set it as you Front page.

The last step is to assign the empty page you created as the Post page option.

Reading Settings WordPress Website with Blog Page

Save the setting you changed above and see if your homepage is now indeed the page you want to show.

The last thing you need to do is to assign your Blog / News page to a custom menu item so people can reach that page.

Assign Blog Page to Menu

If you already have some posts written and published, you should see them on that page.

As you can see, its not that difficult to configure a WordPress website with a blog page.

I use the option on this website, and you? Do you use a separate blog page on your WordPress website?
